Attempted Therapies
Therapies Tried
Low-Dose Naltrexone (LDN)
Tried based on a hypothesis that this condition is fundamentally autoimmune in nature — a hypothesis supported by the Moments of Remission observed during periods of immune activation. Discontinued due to severe nightmares, even at tiny doses.
Parasitic Interventions
Also tried under the autoimmune hypothesis, separately from LDN. Noted minor improvement in chronic skin infections. However, as colony size was increased, I began having strong, classically allergic reactions — congestion and head-cold feelings — and ultimately removed the colony with an antiparasitic. (Possibly the same protocol as “NDA worms” below — unconfirmed.)
Sodium Cromolyn
Tried for suspected histamine involvement. No impact noticed even at a very low dose. Attempting to increase the dose caused digestive discomfort, and no positive benefit was ever noticed at any dose taken.
DAO Supplementation
Tried for the same suspected histamine involvement. Didn't find much relief, though the signal is noisy — it also causes extreme fatigue, so I haven't stuck with it for more than a few days at a time.
Fecal Microbiota Transplant (FMT)
Multiple rounds. Felt a burst of energy after at least one round, but it was unclear whether this was a real effect or placebo. Around the same time I had to take antibiotics for an unrelated issue, which I suspect wiped out any potential benefit from the transplant.
Triple-Antibiotic Therapy (suspected SIBO)
Tried for a suspected intestinal bacterial overgrowth — possibly small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO), which sometimes calls for a triple-antibiotic regimen, though the exact protocol/name used here isn't confirmed. I was skeptical of the diagnosis, but tested positive for the overgrowth at one point. Discontinued due to extreme kidney discomfort and blood in the urine. This occurred immediately before the discovery of a large, undiagnosed kidney stone obstructing the left renal calyx (see Kidney Stones and Kidney/Liver Strain), so it's unclear whether the antibiotic, the stone, or both caused these symptoms.
